In addition to this list of events, she teaches Parashat haShavua, a free drop in class studying the Torah portion of the week, Fridays from noon to 1:00 pm at the JCC in San Francisco, 3200 California Street. All are welcome to join our lively discussion regardless of level of experience.
How does liturgy "work"? Especially so in the Taharah room---where the body of the deceased is washed in an ancient Jewish ritual showing respect for the dead. Rabbi Me'irah has adapted the liturgy spoken by the team that performs the taharah into a play---the parts to be read by the participants who attend this workshop. Open to the public, free of charge. Come play an ancestor, God, a prophet, a sage, an angel, a demon. You will experience the power of how the liturgy helps a community "navigate" the liminal space between life and death.
